My work arises explores the realm of human consciousness and the discovering of its unfolding quality.
I have a sculpture background but I mainly work with performance and painting and with both, I explore the true potential of human being and reveal the hidden yet undiscovered sides of our potential.

My work witnesses a phenomenological approach, therefore, it often appears after long research and deep inquiries, in fact, I often associate my work to a geopolitical context. Concerns in my work include spiritual growth and how human being can develop further as a species living on earth, including the cycle of birth and death, I show the positive side of being, collectively and alongside tuned to the individual understanding of the world.

My performance and painting are responsive about the human condition in different cultural e geographical contexts. My work attempts to find answers and solutions to our way of behaving in the world as responsible creatures.

MATILDE SAMBO & FURIO GANZ

Matilde Sambo & Furio Ganz, mostly with video, investigate the delicate balances between human being and the world. They are focusing on the relationship between nature and artifice that modify constantly the human environment. Body as a medium, as complex as fragile, is shown over its limit. The consciousness of an increasingly thinner line between natural and artificial, makes in the duo the need to create works poised between documentary and fiction.

Loredana Denicola

Loredana Denicola is a documentary photographer who lives in London. She uses photography as a tool for her personal evolution which began with the discovery of her ‘psychological structure’, and then comprehension and self – destruction, using her artistic work as a powerful means of self-analysis, creating dialogues between herself and others. “I am your mirror” photography project clearly represents this process in which, establishing an intimate connection with strangers found on Internet, Loredana employs Photography as a mirror to reveal some of repressing feelings of both parts involved (the stranger & photographer), freeing ourselves, temporarily, of automatic behaviors that from habituation we play to protect ourselves, acting roles in life, that are not part of us, only  to be accepted from Society. The result? An attack to the Identity’s concept. With photography we can unlock doors but we can also disturb ourselves, as when we look in a mirror. Do we like what we see? Who are we?

Riccardo Buscarini

Award-winning choreographer Riccardo Buscarini trained at Accademia Domenichino in Piacenza, Italy, and London Contemporary Dance School graduating in 2009. Since then he has been presenting – and often performing in – his own work in the UK and internationally. Riccardo has also taught choreography and performance at Birkbeck University and lead improvisation and composition workshops internationally.

A curious person of eclectic inspirations, Riccardo is an artist focussed on constantly changing his creative approach to choreography driven by a strong desire for the new. His works to date are all quite different. Although his works have taken different shapes and have been presented in very diverse contexts – theatres, galleries and urban spaces – Riccardo is often inspired by autobiographical events translated in viscerally symbolic expressions.

Andrea Abbatangelo

Andrea Abbatangelo (°1981, Terni, Italy) makes sculptures and films. By applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies, Abbatangelo plays with the idea of the mortality of an artwork confronted with the power of a transitory appearance, which is, by being restricted in time, much more intense.

His sculptures are an investigation of concepts such as authenticity and objectivity by using an encyclopaedic approach and quasi-scientific precision and by referencing documentaries, ‘fact-fiction’ and popular scientific equivalents. By using an ever-growing archive of found documents to create autonomous artworks, he tries to increase the dynamic between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations.

Fagarazzi Zufellato

Andrea Fagarazzi and I-Chen Zuffellato are two independent film-makers and performers collaborating since 2005. Since first meeting, they’ve started projects in which they explore corporal concepts involving different expressive languages such as performance and visual arts. This is done so as to investigate fractures of society and diversity in relation to otherness in identity. With their performances, they question the performative act, its ways and the relation it establishes with the public. In 2007 they won the 3rd EXTRA prize with their performance “lo Lusso” for “having tackled society’s imagery of seductions and contradictions sabotaging its codes through body language.” ‘Enimirc’ (2009-2010) is a performance which, through a process of deconstruction of crime, puts the relationship between performer and spectator on the brink. ‘Kitchen of the Future’ (2012) involves 50 people coming from a community in psycho-social rehabilitation in Arzignano. The ‘Bouiti, Douadi, Mustapha’project is staged with three guests coming from hostels for homeless people. With the installation ‘Bet On Utopia’ they have received a special mention at the Independents/ArtVerona 2014. Their productions are known both nationally and internationally.

Nina Alexopoulou

Born in Greece, Nina Alexopoulou, has completed her studies in MA Dance Theatre: The Body in Performance at Trinity Laban. Coming from a mainly dance background, Nina holds a BA in Dance Performance from Roehampton Univercity and studied in the Department of Theatre Studies of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Right now, her main interest lies in femininity and female identity and its relation with the notions of abjection, hysteria and food. She is also interested in explicit and intimate performance art, mass and popular culture and cupcakes and candies. Her work takes the form of live art performance, installation and video.

exVUOTO Teatro

At the epicentre of exvUoto theathre’s enquiry one can find the attempt to understand and acknowledge the sense of void and/or emptying felt by the contemporary human being, perhaps not anymore alienated but rather inured and anaesthetised. exvUoto theatre starts from the void as to seek the origins of feeling and living.

We alternate working in the theatre (physical and vocal training) to rehearsing at the table texts written by ourselves. We look around ourselves, we “waste time” chasing ineffable sensation that we try to translate into words and then images or vice versa. We work on symbols and metaphors. We return the gaze of the others. We work on the streets, defenceless. We work in a window-shop, rehearsing our spectacle in a decaying shop in front of passer-by’s. Mocking audience and intimate pornography. Even though we are dressed. We work on immobility. We employ a lot of music to hide our breaths, then we stop it suddenly to hear how they sound, or how our articulations do.

Tiziana Contino

Contino’s artworks are multimedia projects that employ the use of photography, video, multimedia installations and interactive performances in which the audience is invited to synaesthetically and emotively interact. Deeply influenced by the writings of philosophers such as Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, most of her works are centred around the concepts of “nomadic thinking” and “deterritorialization.”

Being these concepts oriented on the analysis of mankind and the way it cohabitates in the world, Contino, with her practice, finds these concepts as the main foundations to link with the idea of transgenderism. For the artist, being trans is the infinite possibility of transitioning from a gender to another as “moments of identity.” Her research is focused on interactive performance as the study of human behaviour to subvert static habits.

Her latest projects aim to reset the distance and scepticism we find in our daily lives and in the relationship with others; they are interactive performances destined to reactivate the contact and/or thought of them.

Penzo + Fiore

Penzo + Fiore were born as duo in 2009. Their artistic research finds its expression through performance, installation and photography. The focus of their poetics centres on human nature along with its fears, fragilities, perversions, ways of social living and so forth. On the same line, -often in relation with the dichotomy Eros and Thanatos-, the idea of duo is a topic frequently investigated by both and showcased for its diverse sides – amongst contradictions, ambiguities and desires.

Following their shared personal attitude, Penzo+Fiore have brought to life a process of intimate and personal dialogues with people casually encountered within disparate contexts. For the duo, this is a way to force the boundary existing between intimate and public which constitutes the most delicate “crest” of rationality.

Regarding their curatorial projects in collaboration with the Cantiere Corpo Luogo Association, Penzo+Fiore have started several projects out which activate both personal aspects, – such as the research of one’s own -, and public (territorial) ones. They live and work between Venice and Berlin.
